چکیده
The mandrel plays a vital role in metal tube bending limit improvement and high-quality achievement. For the forming process of tubes with different diameters, corresponding needs to be customized, which has disadvantages long design cycle, high manufacturing cost, low reuse rate. Therefore, novelty concept diameter adjustable (DAM) based on multi-point contact was proposed adapt processes. Since point-contact characteristics DAM can lead irregular cross-section deformation, cross-sectional full profile radial error (FP-RE) model proposed. As more comprehensive evaluation model, FP-RE is used measure deformation degree whole cross-section. A diameter-adjustable adopted AISI 304L (the inner = 40–56 mm) experiments. maximum absolute 0.11% compared ones obtained from FEA Abaqus/explicit. In addition, effects characteristic parameters, viz., support blocks amount, effective magnification, diameter, quality were discussed. results indicated that (a) an even number could prevent collapse outer convex wall improve concave wall. (b) When larger bending, non-contact area would cause increase roundness section distortion. (c) minor for same while thinning just opposite. Finally, result also proved minimum 40 mm six blocks) about mm, acceptable.

Upper Bound Analysis of Tube Extrusion Process Through Rotating Conical Dies with Large Mandrel Radius
In this paper, an upper bound approach is used to analyze the tube extrusion process through rotating conical dies with large mandrel radius. The material under deformation in the die and inside the container is divided to four deformation zones. A velocity field for each deformation zone is developed to evaluate the internal powers and the powers dissipated on all frictional and velocity disco...

متن کاملCharacterization of smear zone caused by mandrel action
In this study, the smear zone due to vertical drain installation is studied using a large, in situ sample to capture the realistic characteristics of the smear zone in relation to the in situ soil structure. The smear zone extent for Bulli clay (New South Wales, Australia) is quantified on the basis of normalised permeability and the reduction in the water content prior to consolidation. The pe...
متن کاملConceptual model describing smear zone caused by mandrel action
In this study the characteristics and extent of the smear zone are investigated using a large, undisturbed sample. The aim of using such a sample is to capture the realistic characteristics of the smear zone in relation to the in situ soil structure during the installation of prefabricated vertical drains (PVDs) using a mandrel. The extent of the smear zone for Bulli clay (New South Wales, Aust...
